Brasenose College in Oxford has completed a £5m redevelopment of its kitchen and catering facilities. A new dining facility has been created in a fully restored 15th-century building in the heart of the college. New kitchens were fitted with state of the art cooking equipment which will help the chefs provide food for up to 500 meals per day.

A key element was the construction of a new rotunda, creating a focal feature while in keeping with the surrounding historic buildings.

Brasenose bursar Philip Parker said: “Our project was complex, with modern facilities in a small space in two listed buildings, affecting the heart of the college for two years.

“The college had 14 different contractors and consultants but the project was a great success, delivered on time and within budget.”

Daniel Thomas of project managers Bidwells added: “The project at Brasenose College was challenging given both its central college setting and the vision of the architect.”
