IT STOCKS everything from 19th century artwork to antique baby clothes.

And now an Oxford antiques shop has been named one of the top 10 in the country.

Antiques on High in Oxford’s High Street is in the final of a national award for antique shops.

The shop is up for the Centre of the Year category at the Homes and Antiques 2013 awards and staff will attend an awards ceremony in London later this month. Caroline Henney, a vintage fashion dealer at the shop, said: “It is quite exciting for us. This is like the BAFTAs for the antiques industry.”

Votes from members of the public on the Homes and Antiques website helped draw up the shortlist, which also features The Swan at Tetsworth, near Thame.

Antiques on High opened 16 years ago when many of the original dealers from The Jam Factory closed down.

The winner will be announced at The Decorative Antiques and Textile Fair in Battersea Park on Friday, April 26.
