GRAFFITI lovers are being urged check out dramatic artwork sprayed on the gallery walls at Oxford’s Old Fire Station because it is on borrowed time.

Once the exhibition is over, that will be it for the art because the wall will be painted over.

For the first time, Arts at the Old Fire Station in Gloucester Green has permitted artists to use the physical walls of the gallery for their canvas.

The exhibition, You Can’t Fall Off the Floor by Oxford born artists Kleiner Shames and Patch Plumber, runs until Friday, April 26. The artists have recreated one of their works in a 14ft high wall painting — which will be painted over at the end of the exhibition on Friday, April 26.

Arts director Jeremy Spafford said: “Although it has its roots in graffiti, it is not graffiti in the way you might imagine it. There is work for sale that is beautifully crafted.

“In terms of the piece on the wall, I can’t quite believe we are going to paint over it so if people want to see it, they have got to get over here.”

The gallery is open Tuesdays to Saturdays 10am to 5pm.
