ROLL up, roll up, here we go again with the next circus act our bungling city council will no doubt get the Oxpens revival totally wrong (April 12).

I feel sure that the people of Oxford will be invited to attend the public consultation events when they come about.

Unfortunately, they aren’t listened to on local issues so what’s going to be different this time?

If I could make a suggestion, one of the things that should be included is council accommodation made up of one and two-bedroom flats for elderly council tenants. The benefits would be that they would be freeing up highly-sought-after family accommodation that at present is in short supply.

Their new accommodation would give them greatly reduced utility bills due to being built of modern, energy saving materials. They would also be very close to the city centre and amenities.

Family and friends would also have good transport links due to its central location.

I would also include in the build a purpose-built room for community officers to use on a 24- hour basis.

This would give residents peace of mind and security while also deterring unwanted visitors.
