I was delighted to see that the Oxford Mail is running another film festival from the Phoenix, this time on James Bond.
Having attended a few screenings at previous offerings, I have to say that they really do offer a very enjoyable and different cinema experience from the norm.
There always seems to be a sense of occasion and lively buzz, helped by the entertaining introductory speech from your charismatic host.
It also manages to feel quite cosy, a little like settling down with your (vastly extended) family to watch a favourite film.
And just to top it off, the festivals have introduced me to the Phoenix, a fabulous cinema with its own special charm.
Let’s face it how often do you get the opportunity to enjoy a gin and tonic, mixed at the cinema’s own groovy little bar, while taking in a classic movie?
It may not be Cannes but if I can – I will be there, for maybe no other reason than to soak up the deliciously unique atmosphere.
