A grandmother from Oxford who suffers from Parkinson’s is refusing to let her condition keep her down.
In fact Sally Bromley is doing quite the opposite and has managed to raise more than £5,500 for charity.
The 64-year-old, from Victoria Road, Summertown, is vice-chairwoman of the Oxford and District branch of the national charity Parkinson’s UK.
The former teacher at Frideswide Middle School was diagnosed with the degenerative neurological condition in 2008. Mrs Bromley was determined not to let Parkinson’s control her life and took part in a sponsored skydive from 12,000 feet at Netheravon, Wiltshire, raising £5,000.
The grandmother-of-four said: “It was magic. It was quite nerve-wracking but once you’re out of the door it’s great. When you’ve got something like Parkinson’s if you want to do something you’ve got to do it while you still can.”
On Monday she raised more than £600 for the charity through a cream tea afternoon at her home which was attended by about 60 people.
The Oxford branch of Parkinson’s UK is helping to fund pioneering research into the condition at Oxford University.
