THREE-YEAR-OLD Ethan Langford got the chance to tickle a chick at a Witney nursery to celebrate its refurbishment.

Lizards, rabbits and chicks were brought in to the former Petit Enfant nursery in Northfield Farm Lane, which has relaunched as Co-operative Childcare following the revamp. The work cost more than £158,000, including new play equipment.

After the celebration on Tuesday, Ethan, from Witney, said: “When I touched the chick the wings felt really spiky.”

Nursery manager Gareth Jones said: “The children were very excited to see the animals up close. The nursery has been refurbished inside to make it more comfortable.”

Seventy children aged up to five attend the nursery in Madley Park.
