VISITORS from around the world will be among the hundreds at Oxford’s folk festival this weekend.

Organiser Cat Kelly has sold tickets to people as far away as Canada and Finland for Folk Weekend Oxford.

The festival, which starts today, is in its second year and has almost doubled in size, with 14 stages set up at eight venues around the city, with headquarters at the Old Fire Station in George Street.

The 73 events over the three days are expected to attract more than 1,000 people. Ms Kelly said: “What I really like about folk music is that it’s one of the few things you can genuinely do and enjoy with everyone of any age.”

The Eynsham resident sings in the Rising Voices choir which is performing from 8pm at the Old Fire Station today.
