A year of early-morning walks in Port Meadow inspired Ground Work (£5) a 30-page booklet by poet David Attwooll and painter Andrew Walton.

Their 12 walks — one a month through sunshine and flood, wind, rain, ice and snow — have resulted in a beautifully produced volume, with each poem set alongside a black-and-white scraperboard illustration by Walton. Designed by Ruth Walton and printed by Joshua Horgan, it is an all-Oxford project, which also led to a new publishing imprint called Black Poplar.

The launch of the book and an associated exhibition at Art Jericho will be celebrated at a jazz and poetry evening at the gallery in King Street, Oxford. As well as readings by David Attwooll, there will be jazz from the Frank Harrison trio. Tickets, £5, must be booked by emailing david@attwoollassociates.com The exhibition will be at Art Jericho, King Street, Oxford, until February 23, noon-6pm, Wednesday to Sunday.
