WANTAGE’S Vale Taekwon-Do school produced a stunning performance at the Welsh Championships in Cardiff.

Members returned with 32 medals and finished second out of 50 teams taking part – only five points off first place.

Instructor Carl Davis kicked off the success by winning gold in the adult male fourth degree and 71kg black belt sparring, to claim the top overall adult prize for the second year running.

Ollie Grimes won the overall junior colour belt competitor with impressive gold medals in blue belt patterns and junior colour belt flying kicks, as well as picking up bronze in lightweight sparring.

There was another double junior gold for Sierra Herring (green belt patterns and female green belt lightweight sparring)

Other junior gold medals came from Charlie Rhodes (red belt lightweight sparring), Hollie Charles (red belt patterns), Aisha Macey (female green belt 11-14 year old sparring) and Sami Grimes (male green belt 11-14 year old sparring).

Jamie Harmon (red belt middleweight sparring) and Steve Stone claimed gold in the adult black belt power (board breaking), taking Vale’s tally of first places to an impressive 12.

Silver medals were picked up by Eunice Grimes (veteran yellow/green belt sparring), Harmon (red belt patterns), Chris Charles (black belt first degree patterns) and Steve Stone (black belt heavyweight sparring).

There were also a host of bronze medals.

Vic Macey (adult colour belt sparring), Harry Davis (children colour belt patterns and sparring), Tomas Marren (sparring), Kuba Pienkos (child sparring and flying kicks), Brendan England (patterns), Lilly Emptage (child sparring), Charlie Rhodes (junior patterns) and Hollie Charles (junior female red and black belt sparring) all joined in the medal party.

Sean McIntyre (junior black belt sparring), Keira Stone (child sparring), Ryan Woodsend (child sparring) as well as George Wells (junior colour belt sparring) also claimed bronze medals.
