GIANT-KILLERS London Bees will pose a difficult test to Oxford United when they travel to the Hive for tomorrow’s FA Women’s Super League 2 clash, according to manager Les Taylor, writes MATTHEW BRUCE.

United’s hosts stunned WSL 1 title challengers Chelsea last weekend, knocking them out of the Continental Tyres Cup on penalties following a 2-2 draw.

And Taylor feels that the shock result is a warning to his side.

He said: “They’ll be on a massive high after last weekend and you’d expect them to have a bit of momentum behind them.

“It’s up to us to stop that and I think we really need to get off to a good start.

“We’ve been in that position before and sometimes it can lead to over-confidence, so hopefully we can catch them out.”

Oxford are without captain Kat Nutman with a knee injury, as well as goalkeeper Demi Lambourne (groin) and defenders Madison Lee (calf) and Katja Hakala (unavailable).

Centre back Riva Casley is also unavailable after being called up for an England under 17 training camp.

Victory this weekend would bring United level on points with the Bees, which Taylor believes would provide his side with a platform to push up the table.

“It’s one of those games that you look at and think we could get a result,” he added.

“Certainly prior to the season you would be looking at this one as one we should get something from.

“We have had a busy week with three games in eight days, but the girls have since had a chance to recharge.

“They’ve been looking refreshed in training this week and I think they’re really looking forward to the game at the weekend.”
