COKETHORPE School, near Witney, finished 14th in the National Schools tennis finals in Queenswood, Herts.
Playing for the Aberdare Cup, after losing to fourth seeds Cheam School, they defeated St George’s Weybridge to get the highest finish for an Oxfordshire School since the early 1980’s when Banbury Girls won the event.
GABRIEL Curelli and Jasmine Conway reached finals of the under 14 events at the Penny & Sinclair Tennis Championships at Virgin Active, Oxford.
Curelli beat Henry Muxworthy, from Swansea, 10-8 in the final set tie-break while Conway lost to Iman Khan, from Essex, 6-3, 6-3.
Conway partnered Alexa Wilson, of Bucks, to win the girls doubles, with Curelli sweeping the board by winning the boys doubles event with Connor Ferguson.
JON Maskens leads Oxfordshire’s men in Group 4 at Hunstanton next week for the start of AEGON Summer County Cup, with Alice Atkins captaining the ladies in Group 7 at Raynes Park, Wimbledon.
