DOGS have been invited to rock out at a music festival this Sunday to help raise money for homeless animals in Oxfordshire.

Blue Cross pet charity is putting on BlueFest on August 14, aiming to raise as much money as possible towards refurbishment works at its Burford rehoming centre.

Taking place at The Swan Hotel in Radcot, the event promises to be a great day out for all the family - even dogs are invited along to join in the festivities.

As well as games, raffle and a barbecue, a host of local artists will be entertaining guests with their music, including country singer Rett Russell and The Last to Leave.

Jenna Martyn, centre manager from Blue Cross in Burford, said: "BlueFest will be a great day out and is a really fun way for people to help pets. We're really grateful to Malcolm and Jayne at The Swan for hosting and supporting our event. We’d love to see lots of people there."

Blue Cross in Burford helps 700 dogs, cats, horses and small animals every year. The centre rebuild, which aims to be completed next year, means the charity can double the number of pets it can look after.

Ms Martyn added: "Money raised from BlueFest will make a huge different to the pets that need our help. Our new centre will offer a better environment with modern and more spacious facilities for pets to stay while they are looking for new homes."

No tickets are required but a £5 donation is requested. The event is open from 3pm and music starts at 4pm. Visit bluecross.org.uk/events for more.
