YOUNGSTERS spent a morning exploring stories through messy and creative play at an Oxford museum.

The ABC Story sessions are run every week at the Story Museum where young families will engage creatively with a different book.

This week Billy's Beetle by Mick Inkpen was read to children up to the age of three before they went off and created their own drawings and creations, inspired by the tale.

Zoe Davey took her 19-month old son George to the event.

She said: "George loves getting messy and doing creative things and it is a nice day out."

The next session will be held tomorrow where visitors will have the chance to explore Oliver Seffers' Lost and Found.

On Saturday the museum in Pembroke Street will host a comics club with illustrator Neill Cameron, giving children a chance to create their very own mini comics.
