AN UPMARKET developer has donated £2,500 to an Oxfordshire cycling event.

CALA Homes has given the money towards the Broughton Castle Sportive, which will see riders of all ages and ability cycle four routes through the Cotswolds Hills in the summer.

The donation, from the firm building the Elmwood Park development in the area, is part of an agreement to support local communities and events.

The annual event has a selection of routes from the 10km family fun ride around the grounds of the castle to the 'Cotswold Monster 100' - a 100 mile route through the Cotswolds.

More than 700 riders are expected at the Banbury Cherwell Rotary Club event.

Event organiser at the club, Laura Cunningham, said: "We are extremely grateful to CALA Homes for supporting this year’s Broughton Castle Sportive.

"Their generosity has helped us to make sure this year’s event is bigger and better than ever and packed full of excitement for cyclists and spectators of all ages and abilities to enjoy."

Managing director of CALA Homes midlands, Mark Wright, who is taking part, said: "We strive to make communities, not just build homes, and as such, feel that it is very important for us to play an active role in our local community."

All proceeds go to local charities.
