HUNDREDS of school children have recorded a special rendition of a Stormzy song and now hope the man himself will hear their cover.

Clare Chapman, the music teacher for the Blackbird Academy Trust, recruited 600 children from the estate's three primary schools, Windale, Pegasus and Orchard Meadow, to take part in the music lesson with a difference.

She recruited a friend with sound equipment to record the children singing the hit 'Blinded by Your Grace' in different sessions and then mixed it all together.

The song, from the grime artist's album 'Gang Signs & Prayer', was a candidate for last year's Christmas number one and Stormzy himself invited fans to take part in the video for it last year.

School children are now hoping he will hear their version and recognise their efforts online and have started a campaign to get him to watch it.

Teacher Clare Chapman said: "The main aim was to get the kids to enjoy singing.

"We thought if we could tap in to what they are listening to, it would encourage them to get more involved and they are all very proud of the end result.

"We've been bombarding him with tweets and instagrams but he must get so many messages, it's hard to find a way through.

"It would make everyone's day if he said he liked it."
