TRAINS through Oxford have been delayed due to the heat after the station reopened following two weeks of work.
The first train left Oxford Station at 4.45am after Network Rail finished 16 days of work to relay the track, install new signals and raise the platform.
But by 10.30am a 20mph speed restriction was in place on the new track as a safety precaution because of the heat.
A number of trains were cancelled and many have been delayed by up to 20 minutes throughout the day.
Also, due to a fault with the signalling system between Moreton-in-Marsh and Oxford the line towards Oxford is blocked this evening.
GWR said trains running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 30 minutes, with disruption expected until 6.45.
After 2 weeks w/o trains, 1st day back trying to commute from Didcot to #Oxford back from work, ALL @GWRHelp trains CANCELLED @TheOxfordMail
