OSCAR-WINNING film director Sam Mendes will lead an all-star cast in a charity cricket match next month.

Mr Mendes, who directed the drama film American Beauty and James Bond epic Skyfall, captains the Soho Farmhouse team against Great & Little Tew at Ledwell Road cricket ground, near Chipping Norton, on Sunday September 9.

England rugby union captain Dylan Hartley and Welsh rugby union international Dan Biggar will join Mr Mendes in the match to raise funds for the churches of Great & Little Tew and Heythrop.

Soho Farmhouse is a hotel and members' club in Great Tew and each team member has signed a cricket bat, which will be auctioned in a raffle on the day.

Spectators can also bid for a Bond Poster signed by 007 actor Daniel Craig and Mr Mendes, who attended Magdalen College School in Oxford.

Other prizes include Star Wars memorabilia, a classic car tour of the Cotswolds for two people, and two pairs of audience tickets for Channel Four show 'The Last Leg'.

A barbecue, three bars serving a range of refreshments including prosecco and cocktails, and traditional cricket teas will all be available.
