THE LATEST sell-out shows by the Launton Village Players have racked up more than £1,800 for local projects.

Three performances of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat over the summer pulled in the crowds to help with fundraising.

Some 210 visitors saw Launton Parish Hall transformed into the Biblical lands of Canaan and Egypt to tell the epic tale of the prophesying seer.

In total 27 cast members acted, danced and sang on stage with two further helpers on the lights and sound.

After all the expenses, the show raised more than £1,800 which has now been handed over to the Launton Parish Hall Improvement Project (PHIP).

Villagers have been working hard over recent years to pull in the pounds to transform the dated village hall and bring in back in to the 21st century for the community.

The project's communications officer Robert Cornford said: “With this donation we have now raised over £11,800 for the project, which aims to secure a lease on the hall for the parish council, and then fundraise to finally do something about the hall, bringing it up to standard for the 21st century.

"We have two more events planned for this year so hope to clear £12,000 by the end of 2018."
