PEOPLE say every day is a lesson and this week’s Camera Club theme of ‘Teaching and Learning’ has proved as much.

It was a challenging concept but one that yielded results to warm the cockles and tug on the heart strings with pictures of all sorts of parents, teachers, mentors and pupils.

The entries show humans and animals alike are always learning new skills, with many young minds open to new experiences.

From our four-legged friends featured the pictures show you can always teach a dog new tricks as a willing granddaughter is pictured by camera club member Ann Faulkner.

Elsewhere the intense stare of a dog with the desire to fetch is curbed in a well-trained shot from Derek Bird. The photographer perfectly captures the moment that it could go either way: the pup in two minds whether to follow its training or break from lessons and go for gold.

Moving away from the heart-warming animals showing how nature develops, the other entries bought teaching and learning back home as a nostalgic treat for us all.

Whether you’re young or old, lessons are always there to be learnt and this week’s selection of pictures showed many people learning for their elders Jeff Higgs pictured it perfectly.

The camera club member sent in a pictured of him teaching his grandson all about his passion.

The youngster may not be ready to hold the camera along but was clearly more than comfortable getting to grips with the hobby.

Another fond memory for many was the lessons we all had as a child attempting to learn a musical instrument.

Whether it remained as being taught the recorder or triangle, or flourished into learning the piano or other instruments. A lesson caught in an atmospheric photo from Shez Honour teaching her granddaughter how to play.

For the comedy value a great shot came from Allen Dannafald.

She showed how sometimes you have to learn the hard way and captures the exact moment a friend falls from a lesson in paddleboarding.

For next week's challenge, and inspired by several recent Oxford Mail stories about graffiti, our theme is 'art in unusual places'.
