NHS campaigners have called for the county's physiotherapy services to be brought 'back in house' following a damning report into the company currently responsible.
Healthshare Ltd, which took on the contract for Musculoskeletal (MSK) service in Oxfordshire last year, has faced criticism from patients over long waits and a complicated referral process.
The failings were highlighted in a report by local watchdog, Healthwatch Oxfordshire.
Following the report, campaign group Keep Our NHS Public (KONP), has called for health chiefs to return the contract to an NHS provider, rather than a leave it with a private firm.
Liz Peretz of Oxon Keep Our NHS Pubic said the fact the service had been put out to an external contractor increases communication problems and leads overall to a 'worse service' for patients and staff.
Ms Peretz added: "In our view, MSK in private hands is a mistake.
"This service really should be brought back in house."
Healthshare Ltd have committed to a number of improvements to the service.
