OXFORD Mail readers have helped raise £937 for disabled Glen Brandon after we reported that he had been scammed.

Wellwishers flooded a justgiving page set up by his mum Lorraine to replace some of the cash stolen, and to ‘show Glen that good people still exist’.

They wrote ‘stay strong’ and ‘God bless’ along with generous sums.

Mr Brandon was tricked by fraudsters who emptied his bank of £10,000 while pretending to be his internet provider.

Latest figures released by the Office for National Statistics today show that reports of fraud have risen 16 per cent in the Thames Valley in the past year.

In the year to June 2018, Thames Valley Police received a total of 12,530 reports of fraud like Mr Brandon's.
