MARSTON Ferry Road in Oxford is closed in both directions today to allow resurfacing work to take place.
The roadworks are in effect between Banbury Road and The Cherwell School, with the closure expected to remain in place for the rest of the day.
A diversion is signposted taking drivers on to the Ring Road.
However, many unsuspecting motorists approaching from Headington appear to be missing the closure notice placed amidst a jungle of other road signs at the Access to Headington roadworks by the Marsh Lane junction.
Queues of city-centre-bound traffic were forming on Marston Ferry Road as cars confronted with the closure were forced to turn around and travel back up towards Marsh Lane.
The works had initially been scheduled to take place in August but were delayed until autumn.
