THE owners of a former pub are making their third attempt to turn it into a B&B.

The family who live at the old Plough on the A420 at Little Coxwell near Faringdon have made their third bid to convert it into a guest house.

Having already had to withdraw two applications because council officers said they had not proven that the pub was no longer a viable business, the family are now trying again.

In their latest application to Vale of White Horse District Council, the family's planning agent acknowledged that council officers previous said 'no evidence had been submitted to demonstrate that the existing public house use is no longer economically viable, nor had it been demonstrated that all reasonable efforts have been made to sell or let the property as a public house on the open market at a realistic price'.

Now the family have said that their plans for the main building are so minimal that it 'could revert back to a public house without further alterations at any point in the future if necessary'.

They also said their proposal 'will have a significant positive impact in bringing back into use a building which closed its doors in 2005'.

The family also plan to build eight guest rooms to the rear of the main building.
