WHEN police stopped a pair of suspected drug dealers they found a stash of class A drugs hidden in a woman’s knickers, a court heard.

Heidi Miles, 20, of Orwell Drive, Didcot, and Tre Phillips, 23, of Parsons Place, Oxford, both deny one count of possession with intent to supply cocaine.

As their trial at Oxford Crown Court began yesterday jurors were told that officers first stopped a grey Ford Focus car at Morrell Avenue, Oxford, in the early hours of October 18 last year.

Searching the vehicle which was driven by Phillips with Miles a passenger, the court heard, police found an electronic set of weighing scales and cling film, and Phillips was found to have a wad of cash totalling £1,040.

When taken to Abingdon police station, jurors were told, both underwent a strip search.

In a statement read to the court PC Laura Goodban said that when she asked Miles to remove her trousers and a pair of black knickers she was wearing officers immediately spotted an item hidden inside her clothing.

When asked to explain what it was, the court heard, Miles claimed it was a tissue, but on further analysis it was found to be a quantity of cocaine wrapped in cling film weighing 20.6g.

The court also heard that one mobile phone seized by officers after each had been arrested was ‘very active’ that night.

Prosecutor Michael Attenborough said yesterday that he expected both defendants to blame the other in having the drugs.

He said: “We anticipate that the case and issue of each defendant will amount to each claiming that the drugs were nothing to do with them.

“They cannot both be telling the truth by definition. In the circumstances of this case you can be sure that these defendants were working together to supply cocaine.

“It is one in the morning, or thereabouts, on a Wednesday night. They are found in possession of cocaine, they are in hire car, they have a significant amount of cocaine in the car.

“They have a significant amount of cash in the car, they have a very active mobile phone in the car, they have a set of weighing scales in the car and they have cling film in the car, cling film in which the 20g of cocaine was wrapped.”

Both deny the single count and the trial, which is expected to last three days, continues.
