TRADITIONALLY, Christmas wreaths hang on your front door to welcome in the festive season.

But it can be easy to forget, in the merriment of the holiday season, that not everyone has a front door – or a home.

With this thought in mind, the team at Oxford-based Fabulous Flowers have teamed up with charity Shelter in a bid to raise £10,000 over the course of a year to tackle homelessness in the city.

They’re kicking off this fundraising campaign by selling specially-designed Christmas wreaths, made in their Oxford workshop.

“Over the years I have seen a huge increase of people that have become homeless and sleeping rough,” said Fabulous Flowers director Matthew Taylor.

“Collectively we should all have a responsibility in doing our part to help. Shelter is a charity that is really close to my heart and I wanted to launch this campaign knowing that I was giving something back.

“I went to visit one of their hubs in Birmingham earlier this year and the work they do and undertake is just incredible. As a company we have made a pledge to raise £10,000 for this incredible charity. It sounds a lot but when you break it down, it’s a mere 208 wreaths. As a team not only would we love to meet this target but hugely exceed it.”

The Shelter Christmas wreath is available to purchase online via fabulousflowers.biz priced at £48. The festive wreath is made in Oxford by the Fabulous Flowers team and each wreath is packed securely and dispatched ready for you to hang proudly on your door.

Using their philosophy of scent, texture and colour, Fabulous Flowers have designed the special wreath to include scented rosemary, cinnamon and lavender, together with winter pine cones and red berries.

One hundred per cent of the profits will go to the charity.

Andy Harris, director of fundraising at Shelter said: “A family becomes homeless every 11 minutes in Britain, and it doesn’t have to be this way.

“We’re delighted that Fabulous Flowers have chosen to support Shelter’s work fighting homelessness with their special Christmas wreath.

“As well as a beautiful way to make your home feel really festive in the run-up to the holidays, these wreaths will help Shelter provide advice and services for the families facing Christmas morning without a home.”

Business partners Matthew Taylor and Gary Cooper were brought together by a passion for flowers and their therapeutic powers. Fifteen years later, the business is going from strength-to-strength, with a host of A-list clients and featuring in the Harper’s Bazaar ‘Top Florist’ list.
