A TEENAGER has been arrested in Oxford on suspicion of murder after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed.
Jaydon Washington James died in hospital a short time after being attacked in the Wood End area of Coventry late on Saturday.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested at an address in Oxford and transferred to a police station in the West Midlands for questioning on Thursday, West Midlands Police said.
Although the arrest took place in Oxford, a Thames Valley Police spokesman confirmed the force was not involved.
West Midlands Police said Jaydon’s two friends, who were also injured in the attack, have since been released from hospital.
After the incident, detectives refused to speculate on claims the victim was stabbed 'because of his postcode'.
Speaking about the arrest, Chief Superintendent Mike O’Hara, from Coventry Police, said: “This is a significant step forward but our enquiries are continuing.
“A teenage boy has lost his life and I would urge anyone with information which can assist our investigation to come forward as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information is asked to call 101.
