OLDER people are being urged to plan ahead this winter, to 'help save lives'.
Home care provider Bluebird Care has issued the advice with many unaware of the 'real threat' to life that our winters can cause for older and vulnerable people.
The elderly and their families are urged to take simple precautions like making sure benefit packages are up to date, having the flu jab, and particularly making sure friends and neighbours are aware of any needs in the event of snow or ice.
Regional managing director, Robert Mezo, said: “Simple measures like helping a neighbour stock up on food ahead of a cold snap could save them from a nasty fall if they try to venture out in bad weather.”
