A WOMAN was taken to hospital after she said the car she was in had been 'rammed' off the road and into a lamppost at a busy roundabout.

UPDATED - Man driving car containing injured woman is arrested over drug driving

Fire crews had to remove the doors and roof of the vehicle to free the female passenger following the incident near Kingston Bagpuize yesterday morning.

She was then taken to hospital by South Central Ambulance Service.

The casualty, does not want to be named, said another car had crashed into her vehicle, sending it careering into the lamp post at the roundabout linking the A420 and the A415.

The 26-year-old male driver of the black car containing the injured woman escaped with minor injuries, and he was arrested by police.

Firefighter Simon Matthews from Abingdon Fire Station said: “Following a number of serious Road Traffic Collisions throughout Oxfordshire and the Thames Valley area over the past couple of days, I would recommend that drivers take care on the roads and allow extra time for journeys, especially at this time of year where wetter weather conditions and cold temperatures are an everyday occurrence”
