New pictures have emerged of emergency services staff responding after a man died at McDonald's in Cornmarket Street in Oxford.

Police and ambulance staff were called to the burger restaurant close to Carfax at about 6pm on Sunday.

Thames Valley Police said the man, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, despite attempts to revive him by paramedics.

The force said at the weekend that his death was 'unexplained but not suspicious'.

One 37-year-old woman, who asked not to be named, said she thought the man who died had been homeless and may have been a drug addict.

She added: "He was in his forties and would sleep by the New Theatre, or behind Booker's cash and carry in a tent.

"Everyone is saying it was an overdose.

"As far as I know he was out every night begging, sometimes in Cornmarket Street. It's very sad this has happened."

Reports on social media following the incident suggested there had been a stabbing but this was not confirmed.

Oxford Mail:

One witness, who asked not to be named, said: "There were lots of police and at one point no one was allowed in or out of McDonald's."

Police said a file was being prepared for the Oxfordshire coroner and an inquest, which will reveal the cause of death, is expected to be opened and adjourned.

McDonald's has not yet commented.
