OXFORD Rugby Club are inviting women to 'grab a friend and take on a new challenge' at a taster session next week.
The club say the 'Warrior Camps' are a 'less daunting way of broadening women's horizons', through fun introductions to to rugby.
A session for beginners will take place next Thursday, from 7pm in North Hinksey for an hour and a half.
Former England international Vicky Macqueen said: “Rugby is a very sociable sport. The work you do together bonds you on and off the pitch, and personally rugby has given me so many lifelong friends.
“Rugby has a place for women of all shapes and sizes, with different positions for different strengths. It really is a great sport for anyone as well as a fantastic, fun way to stay both mentally and physically healthy.”
Organisers England Rugby add: "Our Warrior Camps are a fun-packed, commitment-free way for females to get outside, get muddy and experience the dynamic, exhilarating sport for the first time.
"With plenty of help on hand, we will introduce you to the basics of rugby – passing, kicking and tackling, coupled with enjoyable fitness routines – helping you step out of your comfort zone."
Rugby is one of the fastest growing female team sports in England.
Various Warrior Camps are taking place across England from January 12 to 27. For a full list, visit: https://bit.ly/2BUQs5B
The club say participants just need to bring a pair of trainers, usual workout gear and a ‘have a go’ attitude.
