A NURSERY school in East Oxford has been described by Ofsted as 'welcoming and outward-looking.'

Comper Foundation Stage School, which educates 53 pupils aged two-five, received the praise in a new report.

It was inspected in January and Ofsted's feedback, published last week, confirmed the school had maintained its previous standard of 'good'.

The regulator's letter, addressed to headteacher Chris Warner, stated: "Your school is a welcoming community. You and your team are very approachable.

"Children separate from their families quickly, demonstrating the extent to which they are eager to start exploring the activities provided.

"Reading skills are well developed."

The inspector said communication between staff and parents at the Hertford Street school was a particular strength.

Her letter added: "Governors hold leadership to account very successfully.

"They are dedicated to ensuring that children receive the best education."
