SPECSAVERS is set to open a new branch inside a Sainsbury's superstore in Oxford.

The opticians will be located at the supermarket in Heyford Hill, Littlemore, and will run in partnership with the neighbouring Cowley practice.

It is due to welcome customers from Monday, February 4.

The business will be run by two directors, Jason Komodikis and Ajay Kaura, who currently head up the Cowley branch in Templars Square and have more than 50 years of optical experience between them.

Mr Komodikis said: "Ajay and I are delighted to be launching the new store in Sainsbury's.

"We’ve been looking after the eye care needs of the Cowley community for the last 20 years, so it’s great that we can now extend this same service to an additional location."

The store has already recruited nine staff members to join the team, including manager Raphael Osemenkhian –currently at the Cowley practice.

The store will have two optical consulting rooms, a contact lens area and an audiology room.

Optical equipment will include an advanced eye scanning system which can detect eye conditions including glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.

This test will be additional to the normal eye test, costing £10, and can be requested when the appointment is booked.

The new branch is planning an official opening ceremony and party at a later date.

It will be open seven days a week, with hearing appointments available three days a week.

Appointments can be booked prior to opening via the Cowley store or specsavers.co.uk/stores/cowley.
