ARTISTS are capturing the beauty of Oxford on canvas ahead of a charity exhibition.

Members of Oxford Bury Knowle Art Group are painting views of the city and of Oxfordshire for their spring exhibition, which will raise funds for Oxford Winter Night Shelter.

The organisation helps to provide shelter, bed and breakfast for the city's rough sleepers.

In preparation for the exhibition, artist and art historian Hubert Pragnell will give the group a presentation tomorrow entitled Illustrating Oxford.

The talk takes place at North Oxford Association Community Centre in Summertown, from 4.30pm until 6.30pm.

Visitors are welcome to pay £3 to join the talk, or £15 for annual membership to attend future talks for free.

Anyone who wants to become a member of the group and contribute to the exhibit can visit oxfordburyknowleartgroup.co.uk for details.

The spring exhibition will be held at New Road Baptist Church in Bonn Square, and 20 per cent of the proceeds of painting and card sales will be donated to Oxford Winter Night Shelter.

It will run from March 21 until March 23, from 11am-6pm, with free entry.
