DOZENS of people have attended a support group set up to help young men who may be at risk of turning to crime.
A Band of Brothers in Oxford organised a film screening and meeting on Tuesday evening to showcase its work and how it can help men to move forward.
The group, which has been active in Oxford for the last three years, has worked with 50 men who have either been involved with, or are at risk of becoming involved with, the criminal justice system.
It was set up nationwide after statistics revealed nine out of 10 people convicted of a crime were men.
During the evening, attended by 82 people including 16 who wished to sign up as mentors to others, people heard powerful testimonies about the challenges and struggles faced by young men in modern Britain.
David Thurston, conductor of the Oxford Circle, said: “Over the last three years we have welcomed more than 50 men into the Oxford Circle and developed their capability to mentor and support men in our communities."
