Style icons and bargain hunters will be flocking to a one-off pop-up theatrical thrift shop this weekend, ready to grab a bargain as the wardrobe department of one of Oxford’s favourite theatre companies has a massive clear-out, selling costumes from the numerous shows we have enjoyed over the past few years.

The big event by Creation Theatre Company, will be held this weekend with a fun-filled schedule of thrift shopping, face painting, music and more.

“Get the gang together, come for tea and cake and pick out some of the best bargains from Creation shows past,” says Creation’s Charlie Morley.

“We love a charity shop bargain as much as the next person. When we’re not working hard at our desks or on the shows, you’ll find us scouting through the rails at our favourite local thrift store for a crazy shirt, floral dress or some shabby old boots that need some extra love.

“We’ve become such experts at hoarding these treasures that once they’ve been revamped for the shows, our office starts to take on the shape of a charity shop, which leads us to our latest upcoming event.”

Snappy dressers can be first in line when Creation’s very own thrift shop opens its door to an Aladdin’s cave of costume and stage delights from notable performances such as Peter Pan, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Treasure Island, A Brave New World, Swallows & Amazons and more.

The Creation team will also be offering all the tea and cake you could possibly want, while you forage through rails of Creation costumes from past shows.

The company invite clothes hunters to dress up in Mad Hatter headgear, embody their inner Tiger Lily or accessorise their homes with items from some of their eye catching stage sets.

“Charlotte and I from the Creation team have uncovered some hidden gems that we’re equally sad to see go but excited to see move to a good home,” Charlie adds.

The pieces on offer include the unique work made by Creation designer, Ryan Dawson Laight.

Charlie adds: “You’ll kick yourself if you miss this. Each piece of costume is handcrafted with Ryan’s very own blood, sweat and tears to bring you the magic that goes into every Creation show. From cheese-grated waistcoats, to plastic outdoor wear, it’s all up for grabs.”
