A DOG which was loose on the M40 earlier has been caught by police officers after a two-hour chase; and six days on the loose.

The missing animal, known as Scarlett, was detained near junction 10 for Cherwell Valley Services.

Members of the public called police after seeing the dog, which has been missing from her home for six days, on the side of the road.

Oxford Mail:

It took officers two hours to catch the pet in a nearby field.

They were then able to attach a lead to her and calm her down.

TVP Bicester tweeted to say Scarlett was safe but very scared and being looked after.

Her owner had raised the alarm on Sunday after the dog, a Chow Chow, ran off at the service station when she was being transferred from one vehicle to another.

On twitter, people praised the work of the police in making sure Scarlett's story had a happy ending.
