NORTH Leigh joint boss Craig Dore knows time is against them to save their Evo-Stik South League Division 1 Central season.

But he says the basement side have not yet thrown in the towel, despite being seven points adrift of safety with just seven games remaining.

A 5-2 defeat at Corby Town last week was compounded by the teams immediately above them in the table picking up points.

And with another play-off chasing side Sutton Coldfield Town visiting Eynsham Park tomorrow, things get no easier.

But Dore says his side will keep fighting.

“We won’t give up until it’s impossible to stay up, but we need to string a couple of wins together,” he said.

“Time is running out, but we will keep battling. We certainly won’t throw the towel in.

“Tyriq Hunte has scored four times for us in two games, so he has been a real boost – he knows where the goal is, he’s a big unit.”

Dore names an unchanged squad with Harry Grant serving the final game of a three-match ban.

Kidlington, who occupy the other relegation place, face a huge clash at Dunstable Town.

The hosts are just two points clear of the drop zone having been dragged into danger with a run of just one point from five games in which they have not scored, but conceded 18 times.

A win for Kidlington tomorrow against their out-of-form rivals would give them a great chance of staying up.

At the other end of the table, Didcot Town face yet another clash against a top-half side when they travel to Berkhamsted.

An injury-time goal from Felipe Barcelos earned the Railwaymen a point against the then-leaders

Peterborough Sports last week.

Boss Andy Ballard, who names an unchanged squad, knows his side must continue to dig in to hold on to their top-five spot.

“Although Peterborough went in front, we never gave up and got a deserved equaliser from Felipe,” he said.

“It gives us great confidence ahead of Saturday against another side who are pushing for the play-offs.”

Thame United boss Mark West has called for more of the same when they entertain Coleshill Town at the ASM Stadium.

A 4-2 win at Barton Rovers last weekend saw Thame move back into the play-off positions.

“This league is just so tight,” he said. “There are shock results every week, and we need to just try to win as many as we can between now and the end of the season and see where we end up.

“If we can sneak a win on Saturday, and get something out of Peterborough the following Tuesday, then the lads can start thinking about the play-offs.

“But Coleshill are a bit of a handful and we have made quite a few changes from when we drew at their place.”
