A TEENAGER was raped in the early hours in Oxford. 

The police says the 18-year-old woman left Plush nightclub on Frewin Court, Oxford at 2.10am on Friday and was followed by a man down High Street.

The man continued to follow her towards Marston Road and South Park Road.

Police say that at some point during her journey, the man led her to an unknown location and raped her.

The teenager was found in a 'distressed' state by a member of the public in Woodstock Road at around 3.40am but police say the location of the offence is yet to be established. 

Investigating officer, Detective Inspector Tracey Benham of Force CID said: “I am appealing to anyone with any information about this incident to contact the police as soon as possible.

“If you saw or heard anything suspicious, including a woman walking with a man or a woman in a distressed state then please contact us."

The detective added: “We also need to hear from anyone with dashcam, mobile phone or CCTV footage from the areas of High Street, Marston Road, South Park Road and Canterbury Road to contact police.

"The public should be reassured that a thorough investigation is underway and the victim is being supported by specially trained officers.”

A 52-year-old man from Birmingham has been arrested on suspicion of rape.
