ABINGDON and Witney College has submitted plans to expand its dance studio.

A design and access statement submitted with the application to Vale of White Horse District said the college's Abingdon campus needed the upgrade to keep up with demand.

If approved, the plan would mean removing the current single dance studio with a double one to avoid 'overcrowding'.

A design and access statement submitted with the application stated: "The second dance classroom is now an essential requirement to enable effective delivery of the curriculum.

"It will enable different genres and dance class activities to be simultaneously taught as opposed to the current scenario where there is only one classroom hence limiting the activities and tasks that can be set for students at any one point in time."

A public consultation is currently open on the scheme and comments can be submitted via whitehorsedc.gov.uk until May 23.
