People are outraged at spikes that have been put on branches of a tree in Oxford to prevent birds from fouling on the parked cars below.
Hugh Warwick, ecologist and author, tweeted the photo saying he was shocked that there are people willing to go to such lengths.

The 52-year-old who lives in Oxford, said: "This shows our inability as a species to share nature with wildlife habitats. I can understand spikes being put on buildings but in this case there are other options."
Mr Warwick suggested people put sheets over their car to protect it from bird droppings.
People reacted to the photo on Twitter agreeing that the spikes are unnecessary.

One user tweeted: "Car owners who choose to regularly park under trees should simply be aware that they might need to clean their cars more often. These ugly and barbaric spikes are not an acceptable solution."
