A PAEDOPHILE has been warned to expect an 'immediate jail term' after admitting to sexually abusing a child over the course of six months.

Aaron Kitney, of Nettlebed Mead, Oxford, pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual activity with a child at Oxford Crown Court yesterday.

The 29-year old abused his victim , who was aged under 16 at the time of the offences, between July and December last year.

The abuse, involving a number of a sex acts, was carried out at various locations in both Abingdon and Oxford.

The victim in the case cannot be identified for legal reasons.

After the pleas had been entered at the court yesterday Kitney's defence barrister asked for reports to be prepared to explore all sentencing options.

Agreeing to adjourn the case while further reports are completed presiding Judge Ian Pringle QC warned Kitney that putting the case off for reports did not rule out a jail term.

He said: "The fact the case is being adjourned for reports should not be taken by you as any indication that you will receive anything other than an immediate prison sentence in this case."

Kitney was remanded in custody to await his sentencing.

That hearing will be held at the same court on June 11.
