CHILTERN Railway trains between Oxford and London are being delayed this afternoon - because the tracks are too hot.

The company has warned there could be delays to services - and some may even be cancelled - because of "high track temperatures".

Trains are having to run slowly through Beaconsfield station because of the problem.

A spokesman for Chiltern Railways clarified that the temperature on the track is different to the air temperature.

They said: "Whilst the air may be cool, the tracks will absorb more heat because of the material it is made from".

The disruption will last until at least 4pm.
