BEFORE there was Snapchat, this is how the youngsters of Oxfordshire spent their free time.

In September 1990, Larah Davis, 13, from Brill, Kendra Simpson, 16, from Thame, and 13-year-old Laura Catton from Long Crendon gave up their Thursday to help flog programmes at that year's Thame Show.

In their defence, the event – still proudly going today – does describe itself as 'England's Greatest Agricultural Show'.

What's more, in 1990 the M40 extension was completed, giving Thame a fast road link to Birmingham, which may have brought in some extra out-of-towners, giving an added frisson to the excitement.

Incidentally, this photo was taken by veteran Oxford Mail photographer George Reszeter, who worked for the paper for 25 years.

He sadly passed away last year, and is still missed today.
