Mrs Thornton’s debut was the winner of The Times/Chicken House Children’s Fiction competition 2016.
The author ran the bookshop for about 10 years with her husband Mark before the business was sold to a new owner.
Mrs Thornton said she was inspired to write the first book in the series after hearing children talking about stories in the shop.
