AN OXFORD health provider has won a prestigious prize in recognition of the quality of its services.

Nuffield Health picked up the award for Private Hospital Group of the Year for the third year running.

Part of the Health Investor Awards, the prize is designed to recognise outstanding contribution to healthcare over the past 12 months, through 'innovation and excellence in healthcare products and services'.

Nuffield Health, which runs the Manor Hospital in Headington, said 94 per cent of its hospitals had received a ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ rating from independent regulators.

It added it had 'maintained focus on continuous quality improvement' and 'embedding a culture of transparency and learning across the charity'.

At the end of 2017, Nuffield Health reorganised and put in place a new quality and assurance team, which it said was part of its commitment to putting the patient experience first.

The Manor Hospital, which is the not-for-profit organisation's flagship hospital, includes neurosurgery, cardiac care, orthopaedics, and cancer care.

It was rated as 'good' at its last inspection by the Care Quality Commission in December.

Chief Executive Officer of Nuffield Health, Steve Gray, said: “It's great to be recognised three years in a row as leaders in healthcare excellence.

"This reflects our teams' consistent hard work, relentless focus on patient safety, quality and outcomes and their commitment to be the best for our patients.”

Nuffield Health, which has been running for 60 years and also runs medical clinics, fitness and wellbeing clubs and diagnostic units, was selected from a finalist group of five private hospital groups within the UK.
