HIGH-END horticultural expertise enticed gardeners in their thousands to this year’s Blenheim Palace Flower Show.

Perfect peonies and captivating cacti were among the incredible array of plants and flowers that packed out the showground.

Crowds queued to get the first glimpse of what was on offer at the annual event, as tv presenter George Clarke opened festivities in the glorious sunshine.

The celebrity welcomed the crowds and cut the ribbon before people flooded through the entrance to find the gardener’s paradise.

Scores of stalls provided the latest innovative gardening gadgets or perfectly pruned plants to delight all the green-fingered fans.

While the grand pavilion provided inspiration for anyone interesting in horticulture with 30 different stands from individuals who excel in their particular field and proved it with award-winning displays.

Among those showing, was the British Cactus and Succulent Society, Eastcroft Roses, Weird Plants by Gill, Orchid Society of Great Britain, The FlyTrap Plants, Garden of Japan and many more.

Just outside the pavilion was the showstopping Floral Carousel which impressed all who walked by as the brainchild of celebrity florist Mig Kimpton.

Mr Kimpton and his team entered into the circus theme that ran through the show by decorating the carousel with over 2,000 stems of fresh flowers.

The circus theme continued as it ran through the NAFAS floral art tent where local groups and flower arrangers showed off their skills in competition.

Elsewhere in the showground there was stalls in the country and home pavilion, a host of chances to shop with stalls lining the grounds, floral workshops, the plant village and musical entertainment on the main stage.

Show Director, Matthew Upson, said: “We’ve had another amazing year at the Blenheim Palace Flower Show. The weather was glorious all weekend and we were delighted to see so many visitors leaving the show with arms, bags and even trollies full of plants, garden accessories and more.
