A TALKING newspaper for blind and partially-sighted people is appealing for help to keep the service running.
The 25-year-old Didcot, Abingdon & Wantage Talking Newspaper (DAWN) offers a weekly recording of local news, taken mainly from the Oxford Mail and Herald series, for more than 100 listeners.
Most of the partially-sighted and blind listeners to the free service are local, but there are a number who have moved away and want to keep in touch with Oxfordshire news.

Lynn Shepherd, a charity trustee, said: “We are looking for more volunteers to help out, either by reading the articles or by helping in the background.
“The recording is put on a memory stick and sent out weekly to our listeners, who have a small MP3 device for playing them and these need sorting and repacking.
“We ask that volunteers are available once a month.”

Past recordings are archived on the website, but the service includes supplying an MP3 device to listen at home, with listeners asked to post USB sticks back free of charge.
