POLICE have revealed they are not treating two vicious attacks in and around a Witney park as connected.

A 28-year-old man was beaten by a group of 'up to eight' people in an alleyway between The Leys and St Mary's Croft.

He was set upon and hit from behind several times sometime between midnight and 12.30am on Sunday.

He was taken to hospital with a fractured eye socket, as well as back and side injuries.

He has since been discharged.

A 17-year-old boy, meanwhile, was knocked unconscious and his head stamped on during an attack on Saturday evening in The Leys after music festival LibFest.

Thames Valley Police spokesman David Marsh said: "The incident in Witney where the 28-year-old man was assaulted is not being linked to any other incidents."
