A PLAN for a new petrol station off the A34 south of Didcot has been rejected.

A new roadside area, with 12 fuel pumps, two electric car charging points and a shop, was proposed for land off the Chilton Interchange.

But Vale of White Horse district councillors rejected the proposal last night as the development would have been built in ‘open countryside’.

Wantage MP Ed Vaizey was in favour of the proposal.

In a letter Mr Vaizey’s office said the MP felt the development was ‘quite reasonable’.
